A MYSTERY NIGHT is an interactive, improvisational gathering where each guest has been given a detailed character background, and a role in a story that will be played out over the course of three hours or so. Usually, one person is the perpetrator of a crime (or murder, for our older actors) and their job is to escape detection and put the blame onto someone else.
As well as solving the main crime, everyone has other goals – maybe to find hidden pirate treasure or to blackmail a rival, win another's heart, help a friend, or maybe just make as much money as possible.
These character goals support young actors as they grow to understand the "motives" behind character choices and behaviors. The format includes a pre-event "break the ice & prepare" group meeting lead by the director, and supports acting & improvisational skills, story-building, reading comprehension, communication and, as always, is incredibly fun!
In fact, we even offer mystery nights for adults! It's a perfect way to spend an evening with friends or colleagues, and is designed to go well with dinner or tapas, drinks and music!
Here is what is included:
ADVENTURE QUEST: Fantasy LARP (Live Action Role Play) is more than just storytelling and games. Dungeons & Dragons comes alive in this club, as questers become the heroes in their own adventures through Live Action Role Play campaigns, quests and challenges in the mythical worlds they create. Questers will design their own characters, fabricate props and participate in the creative process of collaborative world building, as well as the adventures they have within it. This isn't seated gameplay. This is a complete fantasy role playing experience from start to finish, with mysteries to solve, treasures to hunt, monsters to quell and more. Join us on the adventure!!
MORE ABOUT LARP (Live Action Role Play)
This combination of live improvisational theater, physical education, creative writing, props fabrication/tinkering, collaboration and gameplay is designed for all ages (emerging readers through teen) and fully supports STEAM education! We have clubs for grades 1-2 (lower elementary), 3-5 (upper elementary), 6-9 (middle school) and 9-12 (high school). We combine these arts with critical thinking, creative problem solving, and community leadership skills. Quests include props fabrication, costume design, detailed character creation, puzzles, riddles, treasures, monsters, epic heroes, villains and a lot of laughter! Come and be part of the unique interdisciplinary experience that the LARP Adventure Quest offers!
PROPS FABRICATION: Students will work with various tools & mediums (foam, wood, wire, paint, clay and more), to create magical items and boffers (soft, foam props for LARP) before setting out on a quest of their design!

COMEDY IMPROV BLAST! is a workshop for those who like to laugh! Sessions are 2 day workshops OR 1 night workshop style events designed to incorporate various improvisational theatre techniques and games while fostering self esteem and humility. Two day workshops culminate with an informal performance for family and friends. Each single night event includes dinner and games (no performance).
Comedy improv is a basic in the actor's toolkit. The techniques are BOTH fun, and influence self esteem and collaborative skills. The backbone of theatrical comedy is the support of the ensemble. This is why our workshops are so much fun!
We'll play with props, learn pantomime, and get physical. and more as we bring comical scenes and scenarios to life. The fun builds from there, as the more the group relaxes, the more ridiculous things get!
Older actors (12-17) interested in gaining new skills or auditioning for BITE in the fall are encouraged to check out a workshop this summer. as we work with intermediate techniques and brush up on basics.
