Elementary School Drama Clubs provide a positive introduction to dramatic art and live theatre and through the camaraderie and dedication found during the process of staging a full-scale, live production for peers/family over the course of 10 wks. Rehearsals are held Mondays/Wednesdays @ Matthew Turner Elementary School from 4:30-6:30 pm in MPR/stage. Our work will culminate with a live production in assembly for the student body during the morning, and friends/family during the evening of Dec. 13th. n addition, we will perform songs, dances and vignettes at the Benicia Tree Lighting, as we represent the BUSD drama departments while entertaining our community! What to expect this fall, including rehearsals, reading comprehension, scenery, costumes and other production elements, will be discussed in more detail during our short parent meeting on Sept. 25th @ 6 pm.
ABOUT OUR SHOW: This fall we plan to tackle Charles Dickens' classic, "A Christmas Carol" , and bring the streets of London, 1857, to vibrant life while inviting our audiences to step inside and witness the ghostly haunting of angry, old Ebeneezer Scrooge! A story for all ages, the Dickens' classic is a wonderful introduction to western literature with a huge cast of interesting and magical characters.
Our work in drama club will include an introduction to classic literature, history, puppetry, dance, song, story and character creation, as well as a daily dose of side-splitting laughter, the challenge of overcoming heart-pounding stage fright, and the support of an ensemble of fellow actors and mentors to encourage and share in the success of performance!
We will host a short, mandatory Parent Meeting (September 25th @ 6 pm), where we will go over what to expect from this challenging & rewarding artform, as well as how to best ensure your child is set up for success at performance time. Please plan to have at least one parent/guardian in attendance. Contact program director, Nikki Tillotson, with any questions or concerns via our contact page.
Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education in all aspects of theater, including acting, voice, movement, and technical theater. In addition, we offer teen workshops and master classes with industry professionals.

A MYSTERY NIGHT is an interactive, improvisational gathering where each guest has been given a detailed character background, and a role in a story that will be played out over the course of three hours or so. Usually, one person is the perpetrator of a crime (or murder, for our older actors) and their job is to escape detection and put the blame onto someone else.
As well as solving the main crime, everyone has other goals – maybe to find hidden pirate treasure or to blackmail a rival, win another's heart, help a friend, or maybe just make as much money as possible.
These character goals support young actors as they grow to understand the "motives" behind character choices and behaviors. The format includes a pre-event "break the ice & prepare" group meeting lead by the director, and supports acting & improvisational skills, story-building, reading comprehension, communication and, as always, is incredibly fun!
In fact, we even offer mystery nights for adults! It's a perfect way to spend an evening with friends or colleagues, and is designed to go well with dinner or tapas, drinks and music!
Here is what is included:
ADVENTURE QUEST: Fantasy LARP (Live Action Role Play) is more than just storytelling and games. Dungeons & Dragons comes alive in this club, as questers become the heroes in their own adventures through Live Action Role Play campaigns, quests and challenges in the mythical worlds they create. Questers will design their own characters, fabricate props and participate in the creative process of collaborative world building, as well as the adventures they have within it. This isn't seated gameplay. This is a complete fantasy role playing experience from start to finish, with mysteries to solve, treasures to hunt, monsters to quell and more. Join us on the adventure!!
MORE ABOUT LARP (Live Action Role Play)

Come and be part of the unique interdisciplinary experience that the LARP Adventure Quest offers!
PROPS FABRICATION: Students will work with various tools & mediums (foam, wood, wire, paint, clay and more), to create magical items and boffers (soft, foam props for LARP) before setting out on a quest of their design!

COMEDY IMPROV BLAST! is a workshop for those who like to laugh! Sessions are 2 day workshops OR 1 night workshop style events designed to incorporate various improvisational theatre techniques and games while fostering self esteem and humility. Two day workshops culminate with an informal performance for family and friends. Each single night event includes dinner and games (no performance).
Comedy improv is a basic in the actor's toolkit. The techniques are BOTH fun, and influence self esteem and collaborative skills. The backbone of theatrical comedy is the support of the ensemble. This is why our workshops are so much fun!
We'll play with props, learn pantomime, and get physical. and more as we bring comical scenes and scenarios to life. The fun builds from there, as the more the group relaxes, the more ridiculous things get!
Older actors (12-17) interested in gaining new skills or auditioning for BITE in the fall are encouraged to check out a workshop this summer. as we work with intermediate techniques and brush up on basics.

Welcome to the Tremaine School of Magic, which is located within an ancient British castle. The castle is built at the top of a cliff and is miles from the nearest town or city. Students and Professors live in the castle during the school year, but today is the last day of school before summer break.
Last night, someone painted a red X on the Headmaster's door. This morning Professor Bennet, the Headmaster, woke up unable to remember anything. Not even his own name! Parents are convinced that the school is under some sort of magical attack, and the professors have announced that if the culprit is not caught, the school will close and will not reopen next year. Professor Riley Karlsen, the most senior teacher, is overseeing investigations. No-one may leave the school grounds before the end of the school day. Anyone caught doing so will be presumed guilty and detained for questioning.
Even with all of that going on, today is still the dreaded day of finals. Each professor will give an exam and grade the students' performance, and a full scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest grades.
Let's hope the students' memories are working better than the unfortunate Professor Bennet's!
Welcome to Las Vegas, where, as the saying goes, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."
The Sapphire Hotel and Casino hosts Vegas' hottest ticket – Jaspar the Great's Magic Show. Jaspar never disappoints, and his show climaxes with his famous vanishing act, where he disappears into a case and reappears wearing an extravagant costume unique for each show!
Tonight, however, when his assistant unveiled the case, Jaspar did not reappear – the case was empty! His assistant shrieked and ran off the stage in tears – but was that all part of the act? What happened to Jaspar?
It is now an hour later, and Jaspar has yet to make an appearance. Undercover FBI agent, Declan Grant, is holding everyone in the casino for questioning. Everyone may mingle but cannot leave until the mystery of Jaspar's disappearance has been solved.
The pandemonium is just beginning… a magician, a bag of money, and a pet chihuahua have all vanished. Who is responsible? A ghost and a Bengal tiger aren't the only suspicious culprits. Con artists, mafia thugs, blackmailers, and thieves will all come into play.
Get ready for a one-of-a-kind, spectacular evening at The Sapphire on the Strip in Vanished in Vegas!
